About Me

I have always loved exercise. Growing up, I was on swim teams and played softball through high school. In college, I continued to play softball on club and intramural leagues, and exercised at the college gym where I worked part-time. My first job after college was an Assistant Sales Manager at Bally Total Fitness, where I was able to help people start their fitness journey and answer questions.

That being said, like many women who grew up prior to 2000, I focused on cardio and light weights.  I didn't want to get "bulky", and magazines had reinforced the "light weight/high repetition" mantra, along with low-calorie diets that many people cannot sustain.

In 2012, I read a book about weightlifting, which included both science-based facts about the human body and a six-month program to get me started. I was hooked. I saw changes to my body composition that reinforced the fact that scale wasn't the best indicator of change.

Developing a love for strength training changed my life. I went from a calorie-obsessed cardio bunny, to understanding the benefits of functional strength training, and, for the first time in my life, seeing food in a different light. I eat great the bulk of the time, but I no longer obsess or feel guilty about enjoying things I love, like a glass or two of red wine. I am not at my "perfect" body, but I feel (and look) better in my 40s than I did in my 20s and 30s, and I am proud of that.

I have a full-time job, a family (including a son who is very active in sports), and life responsibilities...but I make time for exercise five days per week. I lift weights, incorporate calisthenics, and still do plenty of heart healthy cardio.

I LOVE the fact that calisthenics can be done literally anywhere and modified as part of a healthy, functional workout, or part of high intensity internal training (HIIT).  I love that strength training, to include calisthenics, will keep my bones healthy and enable me to be active for life. I hope you will love it too.

I became a certified ISSA Personal Trainer in 2026- and my goal is to encourage others to live a balanced, healthy life.  You can work hard and still enjoy some of life's pleasures in moderation- without the guilt.
